Buddy – Although there are references to seeing-eye dogs that date back as far back as the mid-18th century. Buddy was America’s first seeing-eye dog. This German Shepherd was trained in 1927 in Switzerland for his owner Morris Frank.
Judy, Meta and Folly – Were the names of the first guide dogs trained in Britain. These German Shepherds were trained for and given to veterans blinded in World War I on October 6, 1931
Anubis – A Dog-headed Egyptian God
Waldi – Was Dachshund mascot for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games
Yuki – Was a stray who was a pet of Former President Lyndon Johnson. The former president is said to have howled with his pet who was rescued (at a Texas gas station) by his daughter Luci.
Him and Her – Two Beagles owned by Former President Lyndon Johnson.
Pete – Was a pit bull (owned by Former President Teddy Roosevelt’s) is said to have actually ripped off a French ambassador’s pants at a White House event.
Fala – Was a Scottie owned by Former President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Apparently Roosevelt once spent around $15,000 sending a destroyer back the Aleutian Islands because Fala had been accidentally left behind.
Sport – Was the name of Davy Crockett’s dog

Snoopy – Charlie Brown’s fictional beagle dog in “Peanuts” a long-running comic strip written by Charles M. Schulz

Pushinka – Was Laika’s daughter. She had four puppies sired by Former President John F. Kennedy’s terrier named Charlie.
Barry – Was the name of the St Bernard who is said to be the most successful mountain rescue dog ever, having saved 40 lives in the early 1800′s.
Oliver – Was a 12lb Yorkshire Terrier who once defended an elderly lady from the attach of an 80lb Akita. Oliver survived with only nine stitches and the lady escaped unharmed to safety.
Orient – Is a German Shepherd guide dog who led his blind owner Bill Irwin on a hike through 2100 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

Word – This Lhasa Apso dog set a record when he was incarcerated with a death sentence over his head for a total of 8years and 190days, before he was set free to live out his life. (See EconomyDogCare.Com’s “Awesome Dog Records”)
Endal – This yellow Labrador is one of only three dogs to receive a PDSA’s Gold Medal. Endal understands over a 100 commands and was a guide dog and rescuer of the spirit of a Golf War vet Allen Parton, before he won his award for the assistance he provided to is master when Parton’s wheelchair was hit by a car. Endal rolled Parton into the recovery position, draped a blanket over him. Picked up then nudged Parton’s mobile phone close to his face. Then this amazing dog went to a nearby hotel to fetch help.
Togo and Balto – Are the names of two Husky dogs, who were hero’s of an Alaskan sled team that lead their team through 260 miles of blizzard (in 1925) to deliver emergency diphtheria serum to the mining town of Nome Alaska.
Trouble – Was the name of billion heirress Leona Helmsley’s Maltese dog. Helmsley’s will left this little guy 12 million dollars. This was reduced to 2 million after her death.

Rin Tin Tin – Was an American movie star in 22 movies. He used his paw print to sign his own contracts.
Toto’s – Was the stage name of a female Cairn Terrier named Terry who starred in the Wizard of Oz.
Lassie – Was a Collie TV character.
Zeus and Apollo – Were the two Doberman’s who were Higgins’ guard dogs in the TV Series “Magnum P.I.”
Gromit – Is a claymation dog in the movie “Wallace & Gromit”
Muffit Daggit – Was Boxey’s robot dog in the movie “Battlestar Galactica”
K-9 – Was a robot dog in the TV series “Dr. Who”
Wilby – Was the name of the dog in the Movie “The Shaggy Dog”
Scud and Slinky Toy – Were dogs in the movie “Toy Story”

Benji – Is a charcter name for four different dogs. The first dog who played Benji was named Higgins, he was on TV for several years in the series “Petticoat Junction”. Higgins was adopted from an animal shelter and was of unknown mixed breeds. Higgins’ daughter was the second Benji. The third was a distant relative to Higgins. The fourth and present Benji is a female who was adopted from a humane society and so is also of unknown mixed breeds.

Chester – Was a Pomeranian who starred in the TV series “The Nanny”
Marlow – Was the Anatolian Shepherd that starred in the TV series “Simon & Simon”
Freeway – Was the TV name for Charlie an unclipped Lowchen who starred in the series “Hart to Hart”
